With the launch of the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung introduced 10-bit HDR mode to its camera. With this new feature, Samsung switched its camera from SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) to HDR (High Dynamic Range), which enhances the quality of video footage. It is a good and welcome feature for new Galaxy users. But looks like it will not come to the older models. The Camera in charge at Samsung Community South Korea mentions the 10-bit HDR mode may not support the older models.
In a clearance, the camera in charge clarifies the function needs some hardware change, and also may not support OS updates, so it is difficult to bring it to the already launched devices. It will for now only be available for the Galaxy S25 series, and the upcoming supported phones. Here is the given answer by the Camera person, “This feature requires some hardware support and may not be supported by OS updates, so it is not supported on models that have already been released. We ask for your understanding.”

It may include the predecessors Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6 & Flip 6 devices. These phones may not get the new 10-bit HDR. The new function is now available for users in the Camera Assistant app and has also been added to the Gallery app. Users can take new videos or photos from this mode and also edit them using third-party video editing apps like Adobe Premiere Pro & DaVinci Resolve.
