As per the spreading rumors, Fossil may not use Wear OS software on the next Fossil Gen 7. It is not official, but one Reddit user posted it and said the information came from the area manager. It said the reason behind this sudden change could be a relationship between Samsung & Google. Since when Samsung again joined Wear OS for the Galaxy Watch, all the new goodies are coming to it.
In the past, Fossil Gen 6 users had to wait for more than a year to get the Wear OS 3 version, and the same goes for the fourth version. Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6 is now on the Wear OS 4.5 version, so you can see the difference. It could be the reason Fossil may choose a different path. If the company leaves, then the other Mobvoi, Misfit, and other companies might also take this step.
